Tanker

TANKER is a new 2026 tank-action game for the NES, written from scratch and inspired by the classic gameplay of Battle City.

Defend your base, destroy enemy tanks, break through walls, and use the environment to survive increasingly challenging stages. TANKER expands the familiar tank-combat formula with new mechanics, bonuses, enemies, and level elements not found in the original game.

Features

• 50 unique levels — fight through 50 individually designed battlefields, each with its own layout, hazards, routes, and tactical challenges.
• Survive as a tanker — when your tank is destroyed (if you got bonus), you continue on foot as the surviving tanker. Collect a Star bonus to return to your tank.
• Boat bonus — collect a boat to move across water and reach areas that are normally inaccessible.
• Deployable mines bonus — place mines along enemy routes or around your base to strengthen your defences.
• Enemies can steal bonuses — power-ups are not reserved for the player. Enemy tanks can collect them and use their effects against you.
• Teleporters — instantly travel between different parts of a stage, creating new tactical possibilities and unexpected encounters.
• Boss tanks — face powerful enemy tanks with greater durability and unique challenges.
  
• Phantom enemy tanks — beware of invisible enemy tanks that can silently approach your base and destroy it before you notice them. Stay alert and watch for signs of their movement.
• Original stages — battle through newly designed maps featuring destructible walls, water, vegetation, narrow passages, defensive positions, and other hazards.
• Single-player and local two-player modes — play alone or defend the base together with a friend.

TANKER is designed to run on original NES and Famicom hardware, as well as compatible emulators and flash cartridges.

This is not a ROM hack or modification of Battle City. TANKER uses its own code and game engine, developed specifically for the NES.
